These malls look great but Ghanaians simply cannot afford the mall lifestyle. It makes more sense just to build the traditional strip malls. These are just too expesive for shoppers and merchants.

With these however, I can see a further development where regular ones such as you described will spring up. Take Achimota Mall in Accra for example.

So who is working there now? Or has the mall closed down? Accra workers have big mouths, but in Kumasi you will get lots of people from the hinterland and small villages for whom even 200-300 cedis a month is good money.

The owners will be selling cheap imports only. While at it, they will also be driving thousands of small retailers out of business. The mega profits from the mall are South Africa bound.
