We need the source that says the railway line from Boankra Inland port will be linked to Tema-Akosombo line.Where is that master plan? The stagnation of the Boankra inland port project is all due to dirty politics exhibited by demented african leaders. "If my party did not start a project, that project will not be completed by my party, because no one will give my party the credit for completing the project" Lots of money has already gone into that project, with a huge completed but empty administration building sitting in the bush deteriorating. The number of jobs that the project will potentially create for the youth in the region is unimaginable. Yet, dirty prolitricks is hurting the project. Why should any level headed government who claim to be doing everything possible to create jobs in the country will abandon the Boankra Inland port project and start Akosombo railway project from scratch? What explanation does NDC have for abandoning the Boankra project. Is NDC expecting any votes from the Ejisu-Juaben municipality? Good Luck.

That is a good effort. Lets do same for Accra and Kumasi and Accra Cape Coast, and later Kuamsi and the North You may say Airlines cover these places, but costs are very high outside the reach of average Ghanaians

I am very concerned about the quality of Railway System any company in India can provide to meet the 21st Century standards as seen in Europe, Japan and China.
We must be very careful what we get our hands into for a contract as vital as this. To say our Railway system needs overhauling and expansion to the remotest parts of the country would be an understatement. But we should not rush to sign deals that may superficially and initially look cheap but would cost us dearly in the future, as well as fail to deliver lasting quality that meets current modern trending standards.
With our Population growing exponentially and people in constant movements all over, it behooves the Government to build only a durable fast-running Railway system.
We are tired of settling with mediocrity only to pay for endless costly structural repairs. We need to pay attention to what systems we build to support our Economy and lifestyle that would not drain us of our resources. Until we drastically improve upon our maintenance culture that is woefully inadequate, the country must embark upon Systems that demand least maintenance, and guarantee lasting qualities. How the Government bypassed the Train-makers like Siemens, Bombadier, Alstom, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, I have no clue.
We better not repeat the mistakes of the past when Krobo Edusei of Nkrumah's Regime was embroiled in a fishy 10%-Commission deal to contract old and dilapidated Railway Coaches from Communist Eastern Europe that eventually crippled our Railway System.
Why can't we pursue the Maglevs (Magnetic Levitation) and other bullet-train systems of the World, promising both comfort and quality, plus environmentally sound, modern luxurious travel and durability? We must also develop a Rail System that can handle our bulk goods and produce between the ports and the remote centers of production.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Whereas we need to thing big, we also need to consider cost without compromising quality. Siemens and other industry leaders will provide you with cutting edge technology, but can we afford it given our huge national debt? If India can provide us with a fit-for-purpose system at an affordable cost and provide the funding, why not settle for that?
Krobo Edusei's coaches did not cripple our rail system - lack of proper maintenance, political will and foresight did.

I worked nearly 20 years for a railroad in the US.The 9th biggest railroad company in the US.
All I know is this, the building or railroads across the entire US, piece by piece, area by area is what made the US a first world country via economic development.
Here in the US, railroad jobs are some of the best jobs a person can get in the US, without advanced college degrees. The unions within the railroad system in the US rank among the best in America.
