Ha a Abugri, are there no Ghanaian companies? The Energy Commission can do this job with ease. So is Deng in Tamale, New Energy in Tamale, Suka, and scores of other companies that are Ghanaian with competent leadership.

Dear Salifu and Bolga Billa (if these are your names), The solar energy capacity and potential in the Savannah is boundless. It is open to small, medium and large scale investments. These solar systems may be roof-top, designed to support water lifting for irrigation, or even medium sized system say 1 MW that can supply smaller towns on their own or educational and health institutions. They need not be power plants. SADA supports local groups entering the sector at scales and costs they can afford. A power plant of the size we signed with ENI - 20MW - 50MW will cost anything from $60 million - $100million depending on whether storage solutions are integrated or not and depending on distance to the grid for connectivity purposes etc. These sizes of investments tend to be out of reach for most local investors. What we do in these situations is to encourage local minority equity participation to ensure that our companies and investors take advantage. In some of the solar projects in the pipeline, it is actually local companies that bring their foreign partners to do the investments.
So my brothers, there nothing un-nationalistic and it is not a one size fits all or a winner takes all situation in the solar sector.
as to whether the Energy Commission could do this, i think you need to try to understand the roles of our institutions. The Energy Commission is a regulatory body and doesn't undertake such vestments. SADA's law allows it and expects SADA to do so. We work in close collaboration with Energy Commission.
I have taken time to make this explanation in the hope that you are interested in facts not just partisan soundbites.
