It used to be Ghana Railways & Ports Corporation.Then unbundled like Post & Telecommunication. So the weakest link in the union gave way because it was not supported.

This is an area I find it difficult to understand our leaders. You ignore railway transport in this modern world. No wonder we are always fixing roads all the time. Railway transport collapsed under JJ Rawlings but let us lift it again. Cocoa, iron rods, fuel, cement cannot always go by road only. God bless Ghana

Concerned people are baffled just why, since the overthrow of Dr Kwame Nkrumah's gov't, no any other gov't has made it expedient to reactive the railway network in the country. They only make lukewarm promises on coming to power. They lack knowledge of how a railway can boost a country's economy. No country had progressed economically and socially without having a railway network, yet our successive gov'ts hadn't seen it that way. It's a great pity!

The railway system needs rehabilitation to complement the harbours. The transportation of goods across the country would be enhanced with efficient ports and railways system.
