We don't want monopoly cement market but competitive cement so that ghacem will not sell cement to Ghanaians at cutthroat prices under the pretext of high import of raw-materials.

You sound like a visitor from the moon. all these want to do is control supply and up prices. how can Ghana develop its infrastructure with high cement prices? the current price per 50 kg bag is even over priced.

Dear ghanani, as Bula said, you may be a visitor in ghana now, these cement companies are only doing everything possible to increase their prices but it does no longer work so they want government to help them do it by banning the importation, thereby artificially increasing the price. If these companies think that they have produce more than necessary why not exporting the remaining to earn ghana foreign money? Look, because of their price, their products can not compete in any other country.

we should leave it as it is, there must be a competition in the system, ban chines cement will give the local manufacturing companies a key to hick the prices.

So long as the quality can be confirmed, Ghana should not ban Cement or any other product. Dangote also affected other manufacturers when they entered the market.

I thought Dangote was a Nigerian company. Does anything from Nigeria have standards? And to think about the crooked logic. How many days does it take to ship cement from China to Ghana. Is Dangote cement produced or bagged in Ghana? If the Chinese cement must go because of questionable standards or because of unfair foreign competition, then the same yardstick must be applied to the Nigerian company. Nigeria is not the 11th region of Ghana.

I get pissed-off when I hear comments from all these cement producers in Ghana complaining about imported China cements. How on earth can a cement produced in China with a higher labour cost or by extension higher production costs than that of Ghana in addition to costs of shipment and customs clearance should be competing with locally produced cement or can even be sold cheaper? If they can't find out why? Then they should shut up their dirty and useless pronouncements before we allow other cements coming from India, Turkey, Brazil etc, etc. Ghanaians are not foolish people therefore, they must change their attitudes and mindsets to be over rich or we boycott totally buying the local cements. Another stupid comment is the quality aspects they were talking about; l can testify that the China cement has higher quality than those produced in Ghana. Cement is basically made of limestone and gypsum which China has all those raw materials in abundance than Ghana that import gypsum because we don't have it. I love to help buy made in Ghana products, but not the way cement is being manipulated in Ghana.
