its an opportunity for the commercial banks to increase their customer base, what are they waiting for? DKM has thousands of existing customers. When you buy the debt you increase your customer base.

How can any prudent bank jump into this transaction when the BoG does not even know all the details of the scam? For example the extent of the claims, number of legitimate depositors, and other unknown issues. It also comes back to the lack of a credible identification system in Ghana.

This shows our incompetence as a country and the Central Bank.
If it's true that DKM had a tax liability of Ghc115 million with Ghc 10.8 bank balance and with Ghc 77.6 invested in income generating activities, what was the sense placing the moratorium on the company for the poor customer to suffer.
Had it not been sheer wickedness and incompetence, the central bank could have easily taken over and use the profit form this huge investments to pay the customers.
The central bank rushed in to foolishly close down the bank knowing very well it had no other plans of paying back the customecustomers
This is why I always blame the central bank for their incompetence in this DKM saga
