Yes a good idea, every pharmacy should have a permanent pharmacist rather than anyone else who will sell expired drugs for money sake.

Are laws made to regulate or punished? The idea of having permanent pharmacist is to ensure public safety a good idea but wrong approach by pharmcy council. The law should give exemption to existing shop , give them number of years to comply with this directives. The council should look at the total number of shop in each region, district and metropolis. Check the number of qualified pharmacist in each of these areas . look at the number of shops needed for the entire popution. Look at the number of qualified pharmacist in Ghana and where they work. Look at the number of qualified pharmacist graduated each year. The number of pharmacy shops needed for each year. Then finally the council could then hold the existing pharmacy shops without permanent pharmacist. You don't rush by given ultimatum to pharmacy shop and threat of closing them up . In the first place who gave them the lincense to operate those shops. Quantify the capital outlay needed to eastablish a shop.Looking at Ghanaian popution of 25million and the number of pharmacy shops, it's still inadequate so why are they in rush to implement such policy of the existing shops. The council needs to reason up.

The world has moved on. We can't continue wallowing third world mentality. Ghana is a developing country ...it's only greed that would make these multiple pharmacy shop owners & their corporate partners lobby against this directive....

The sad thing is that pharmacy council staff who own pharmacies seemingly are above this rule. Most of them operate pharmacies without a pharmacist.
