To address the concerns of those who say that an award focusing on public-sector entities, might be yet another clever scheme to milk state-owned companies such as the Agricultural Development Bank, GBC Bank, GIHOC Distilleries, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation etc., etc., it is vital that the public is reassured by the organisers that no state-owned entity is 'sponsoring' the event, and that the organisers are not receiving advertising cash for other businesses they own, from 'winners' of their awards.
There will be a huge scandal if it turns out that a few well-connected individuals used their contacts in government to lean on state-owned entities to make financial commitments to the organisers in any shape or form.
Those in government involved in sundry PR schemes of rhis nature, must ubnderstand that taxpayers are sick and tired of tax revenues being syphoned into private pockets through clever schemes such as the so-called bus branding rip-off.
There will be hell to pay if this is yet another example.
Hopefully, the organisers will act swiftly to debunk such allegations publicly, by addressing all the issues raised above. Hmm, Ghana - asem ebeba debi ankasa!
