All we need to do to expand this technique and even get the best of it is engage the Israelis.
Israel has long offered their helping hand to us. But I have not seen any significant embrace by our Government to welcome the Israeli assistance. Our relationship with Israel goes way back to the beginning of both Nations under Dr. Nkrumah and Prime Minister Ben Gurion.
The two were very good friends who shared ideas. In fact, Ben Gurion gave a gift of Plane to Nkrumah, and further opened the doors of Israel to Ghana for us to train our Agricultural Engineers in Israel.
If we had kept that relationship alive, even after the overthrow of Nkrumah and the passing of Prime Minister Gurion, Ghana would never have been left back in Agricultural doldrums.
Israel leads the World in many Agricultural Technologies. And one of those that would be most beneficial to us the Micro-climate Controlled Farming that allows Farmers to use minimum resources to cultivate crops that produce at maximum yields.
Israel has learnt to be innovative to lead in Green Energy Technologies as well. Their Solar Energy Program is right up at the tip of innovation.
So, let our Officials be more serious in helping our Farmers get the most out of their efforts and eventually help grow Ghana's Economy.
The one area in Ghana where Israel's Agricultural feat could best help us is the Northern and Upper Regions. Ironically, however, it is in those Regions that Islam, the dominant Religion of the Arabs, Israel's worst enemies today, is predominant, priming the area for Saudi Arabia's direct influence.
Our Political Leaders from the Northern and Upper Regions, especially, those who are Muslims, have therefore been constrained in their eagerness to encourage the flow of Israeli Assistance to the area.
Nevertheless, as we all swim or drown together as one Nation, we should not let our religious affiliations come between our shared vision for mutual development and the Nation's growth and where the necessary resources and help come from.
When Dr. Nkrumah's Agricultural Programs deeply involved Israeli know-how, it led to the building of many irrigation ponds and other modern techniques to till the land in the Northern and Upper Regions. The very conditions in those areas that called for such advanced modern Techniques in those days still exist.
Let us reinvigorate our genuine friendship with Israel and benefit most from her magnanimity. We could also benefit from an expanded market for our produce or products in Israel.
No one lives on Religion. And Manna does not fall from Heavens anymore. The promise that God made to Hannah, Ishmael's Mother may well be the source of the Arab's relative well-being in the Deserts of Arabia to this date. But we in Africa do not necessarily share in that blessing without applying ourselves, mentally and physically.
Similarly, the blessings that God offered to Israel through Isaac does not simply translate to our material well-being without us applying ourselves similarly.
What we directly gain from either side of the Abraham legacy is whatever religious Faith that touches our heart to live a life that honors the Lord. And we cannot claim to be living that life without using our intelligence well enough to take advantage of the Opportunities God has offered us through Israel, and maybe the Arabs, fully. We may even be better placed than either of them, now, to peacefully tap into any friendship from both sides.
All we need to do to expand this technique and even get the best of it is engage the Israelis.
