GMOs have never killed a single human being. GMOs have never caused cancer, or any other disease in a single human being. This is backed up by thousands upon thousands of published research papers. The amount of research papers that have shown GM foods to have an ill effect totals three. Three, all of which have been retracted and thoroughly discredited.

Because people like you believe rhetoric over facts. There isn't a controversy over evolution in science, but the gullible, ignorant public in some countries certainly doubt it. There isn't a controversy over the round earth in science, but some conspiracy theorists believe that the world is flat. There isn't a controversy over climate change/global warming in the scientific field, but the public in some countries doubts it. These controversies are manufactured by people looking to profit off of them - mostly the organic industry and racist, anti-environmental groups like Greanpeace.

You will see no increase in disease; probably less, actually. If you can grow a greater amount of a product because of a GM food, that means you will be better off economically as well, especially if you can now have multiple companies offering competing products.

The Judge has signed the warrant for the death of our Food Sovereignty. I wonder how much research his outfit did to disprove the complainants' charges.
Even without an explicit warrant like this Ghana was in danger of losing control of her Food Security and Safety to the GMOs. With this definitive legal permission, the GMOs would leave no stone unturned to saturate our food sources with their variety of seeds that would usurp the ubiquity of our natural species, and then move to legally monopolize the seed banks with their legal restrictions on access to them.
Innocent Farmers in the USA who chose to stay with original, native seed sources for their crops but somehow accidentally had a few GMO seeds adulterate their stock without their knowing were taken to Court that they had breached the patent of the GMOs and penalized severely.
It would not matter how a GMO seed gets to a non-GMO customer's farm, if the Companies found out, they would mercilessly pursuit the perceived culprits in Court.
We must be most protective of our sources of Food. Western Countries, especially the USA, have elaborate protective systems established to secure their food sources. In times of Nuclear wars or any such catastrophic disasters that would contaminate global food crops in the Field, the USA has seed banks that are preserving their seeds for their exclusive use.
Besides, Seed banks under USA Federal Government control have the capacity to preserve original, organic varieties of food species, while ours would be vulnerable to extinction under both artificial intervention by the GMOs and Global Warming and its associated problems.
If we would allow the GMOs to come into our Food Markets and production, we must enact stringent protective Legislation to preempt any potential harassment of our Farmers by the GMOs, prevent any adulteration of our native seed sources, and provide up-to-date reinforcement of our methods of preservation.
As at now, it is reported that Ghana has lost more than 1/3 of its native varieties of Yam that were in greater diversity than most places on Earth in the last 30 years.
The deterioration of our arable soils and Forests have been partly blamed for that. The difficulty in using the natural weather patterns to store the seed Yams, as has been the tradition of our Farmers since immemorial, has been increasing exponentially to the detriment of our traditional seed banks.
Very soon, we would be at the mercy of the GMOs to sustain our food supply or import basic food produce, thus stretching our foreign exchange reserves further.
We must also be mindful of the general belief that the genetic modification of certain seeds in our food chain has contributed to the rise in obesity, especially in the USA.
The more we eat GMO foods, the more likely, it is feared, we could disrupt our natural resistance to obesity causing changes in our physiology.
