The technological development and technical assistance programs can be highly effective in helping smallholder farmers in improving their agronomic practices and access to input and output markets. However, majority of funds are channeled into the development of new technologies for the agricultural sector, including high yielding varieties of seeds, agro-chemicals chemicals (fertilizers, weedicides & pesticides) and their applications. Apparently, these technologies are expensive leading to smallholder farmers’ inability to secure them to improve their yields. Invariably, due to systematic failures in the execution of technical assistance programs and policies, majority of smallholder farmers are hard hit as they have no support anywhere and virtually neglected to their fate.
