Nkrumah foresaw the need for such a refinery some 50 years ago but thanks to UP-NPP-Danquah-Busia-Dombo greed and naivity, that strategic economic infrastructure is lying fallow.

Also blame America for they planned and bankrolled the coup of 1966 and advised the criminal NLC government of Afrifa to moth-ball all the factories established by Osagyefo. In effect America used the coup of 1966 to stop the nation's march towards industrialization and rapid economic development. And through the IMF America is still directing the economic policies of Ghana.Ghana is now a guinea pig of America's neo-liberal economic policies which are impoverishing the poor in poor countries.Almost allthe government's economic policies are IMF directed.

In mining Processing business, you need legislation and policy that forces big companies to beneficiate locally. Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa etc have it. You cannot beneficiate diamonds, copper, gold outside the country. The country also needs a central laboratory compulsory for all big miners to take their bars for purity test. This will help Ghana have better metal accounting from gold, silver and copper together with creating jobs for our artisans and graduates. We need to start reporting how much silver and copper we produce as by products from the producers. We need a big refinery with support of big mining firms who have a stake and marketed to other miners in the sub region equity stake and the Ghana have a role in tit. Beneficiation of minerals should be the theme of Ghana

Why do we like blaming governments in Ghana. No government is perfect. Ghana should rather look at policies that will move as forward. PHD synhdrome in Ghana and Africa is too muc that is why we still remain the dark continent in terms of development. Do the Europeans lambast Hitler and the Japanese the war leaders. They have moved on. We cannot reverse the past but look forward to the future.
