I am surprised to say the least that none of the governments that have come and gone have not given SHEA BUTTER any support to help the people of the Northern Region. Bawumia of NPP does not even know what SHEA BUTTER is. The reason for this is because all the so-called big wigs from the North like to live, and train their children in ACCRA instead of their own Northern Ghana. I went to school in GAMBAGA / NALERIGU, and I am from the Accra Region, I know the fruit of this tree because it grows wild, and we used to go into the forest and enjoy the flesh of the fruit during the ripe season. The locals collected the fruit and made shea butter from the seed which we used as butter at the time. One other resource that we collected from the forest in those days was Guinea Fowl Eggs. Guinea Fowls were roaming wild all over the forest, and on occasion we would stumble on their laid eggs ( in the hundreds as they all used the same coup to lay their eggs under the shea butter trees).When is Ghana going to wake up and make money from what nature has given us. We gave away the Palm Oil business to South East Asia, and soon this money-making commodity will also slip through our hands. Lon live Ghana.

Ghana has got all it takes to be a prosperous country but because of poor leadership and planning the nation and its citizens wallow in poverty.Just look at the shea butter industry.It can be a huge foreign exchange earner for the nation and create jobs for thousands of ghanaians yet no serious attention is paid to the sector.We have chosen the path of importing everything to the detriment of the prosperity of the nation and ghanaians.It is sad!!!.
