They cannot fund in project in SA without proper steps but in the rest of Africa they practice otherwise.

The particular airport may not be bankable on its own unless it is bundled with cross subsidy from other airports.
If the timing for the funding is right and there is economic justifications which may not only come from the airport revenues but also wider economic benefit, then that is your feasibility. By the way since when did any public institution displayed details of projects feasibility for public viewing?

KK, we don't always have to comment if you don't understand the issue at hand. Tell me which Ghanaian banks are big enough by Balance sheet to even fund US$50 million US dollar project? How many medium size businesses have Ghanaian banks even funded. I have been involved in a small project finance and the banks will require you to use your private asset to guarantee the loan though it is being borrowed for a project and the Banks are to use the asset created with the loan and the cash flow of the company as a collateral. You see, Ghanaian banks don't even understand what is called project finance because their business model don't support it.
with regards to add to national debt, this project does not affect government debt unless there is a sovereign guarantee as Ghana Airports Limited is a limited liability company with shares.
This is one of the mechanisms the Finance Minister has adopted which is laudable. Those organizations which can borrow on their own balance sheet should do so without recourse to government in order not to add to the national debt stock. ECG, Ghana Water and many others should be treated to same otherwise they would not care what they use their cash collected for if you know Ghana government will repay loans taken out for them

The modern Bole Airport in Addis Abeba-Ethiopia comes with huge cold stores for flower export as well as a huge hanger at the cost only $120 million. The near completed 34 Kilometer light railway being built in the heart of capital of ethiopia Addis Abeba cost a mere $400 million including coaches. There is something terribly wrong with the hyper pricing of projects in Ghana and this must be checked ASAP. The 20 storey AUCC and office complex dubbed "China's gift to Africa" in Addis Abeba was funded by the Chinese for only $200 Million(1200 workers). On my recent visit to Germany a hospital in Hamburg which is bigger and well equiped with German Technology cost only 300 million euros. This is where I smell rat in the Ridge hospital project and that at Legon. The leaders are making Ghana an unbearable place to invest. Ethiopia is now one of the best place to invest in Africa. Wake up Ghana!

How many people would benefit from a political, tribal, unproductive projects like an international airport in Tamale and a domestic airport in Ho?
There are some wealthy small cities in China which are more richer and developed than the whole of Ghana, but they have no airports.
Ghana should think of constructing effective railway systems in the big cities instead of these white elephant, political and tribal airport projects!
The National Demons Conmen (NDC) is a terrible party to lead Ghana. Anytime they are in power, they send Ghana to HIPC! Because they are corrupt, thieves, incompetent, criminals and liars!

Or, tourists from other parts of the country are going to travel to Ho by air and walk to other parts of the region. Here are the facts. No. 1; Ho is a commercial center and produces nothing, absolutely nothing. Second, Ho has no tourists attractions worth an airport. My guess is that Mahama traveled to Ho this week by road in his 4x4. He thinks the road from Accra to Ho (a distance of 104 miles) is good enough for him to build and airport? Mahama also thinks that the roads around Ho are good enough for "passengers" (whoever they are) to get to the airport? What a stupid president. If the NDC government is thinking about doing anything for the Volta Region, commonsense dictates that they complete the road networks first. The so-called Eastern corridor (from Asikuma to Kpeve) has been unusable since 2011; Ho-Hohoe-Jasika-Kajebi-Kete Krachi roads are death traps. Does commonsense not dictate that we complete these roads first before we think about a political project like an airport in the middle of the unusable roads? Use that money to construct the Eastern corridor road not airport. What Volta need is good roads. Is only the rich who can afford 4x4 cars who will go by air. Majority of Voltarians are poor and will travel by road.
