We have committed projects to develop up to 4000 MW thermal plants in the Western region(Aboadze). Even if all the confirmed gas reserve so far were developed it would not be enough to power even 70% of the projected generation in the West. We have a WAGP pipeline with a capacity of 400MMSCf more than enough to power all the projected generation in the East(Tema).The government has also entered into agreement with Quantum to develop a 250MMscf LNG facility in Tema. With all this plans what is the need for a second pipeline to Tema. I learnt is all about the kick back people stand to benefit from the Chinese contractor.
