A country with no agricultural sector is to come and transform Ghana's cocoa sector??? What's wrong with this picture? Daft and greedy NDC government officials. Ideas starved President Mahama government official. NDC days are numbered. I look forward to the day that these farmers will come to their senses and cut down cocoa trees and start planting other crops with a ready market. If Dubai is so special how come they can't grow their own cocoa and transform it as well. Instead they are playing the middleman and robbing the poor farmers.

Damango, the problem in our cocoa industry or any other problem in the country for that matter is not down to any particular party. It's a collective failure on the part of all governments that have ruled this country since independence. Ghana was into cocoa production before independence and almost 60 years after independence here we are calling on Dubai, a state or a province on a desert that does not engage in cocoa production or any crop production for that matter, to solve our problems in the cocoa industry for us. But Dubai was once just a desert with tiny villages and the leaders transformed it into one of the most beautiful city-states in the world so lets hope they achieve the same success in our cocoa industry.

Almost 60 years after our so called independence and the West continue to dictate the value of our raw produce and price at will.
It's a welcoming thought if Omar Khan and his masters are indeed sincere in expressing Dubai’s readiness to play a pivotal role in Ghana’s cocoa sector, using its comparative advantage as a trade hub for Asia and beyond, particularly if and only if they able to add value to it thereby creating additional jobs for our youth?
The only reservation is the price of religion and religion influence it brings? As the saying goes there are no free lunch in the world.

King James, your question 'can you go to Dubai and manage their oil sector for them'? The answer is no. And that is because the leaders know how to manage their own oil. About 60 years ago, just about the same time Ghana gained her independence Dubai was just a desert with tiny villages but today it is one of the most well-developed places on earth and that is because the leaders are able to manage the oil on their own and use it to develop the place, but the same can not be said of Ghana.

Kwaku Ghana, in that regard I can assure you Dubai don't propagate religion. Wherever they go they mean business. You may have heard of their influence in the premier league here in UK. That's not all, they are also the sole sponsors of horse racing. They also own some of the most luxurious estate houses and shopping malls here in UK. My point is they invest very heavily here in the UK and you hardly hear religion being linked with any of their investment.

If you depend on government to solve all your problems, foreigners will surely step in and take advantage of the situation. How many chocolate tycoons do we have in Ghana? There are chocolate tycoons in Switzerland, China and Korea but neither countries grow cocoa. We sit on our behinds and blame government for all our ineptitude forgetting that government comes from us and if we are no good, the government surely is not going to be good.
