Contrary to the belief that mobile phone usage will drive forward Africa's economy, it is draining the incomes of poor Africans. In Africa, particularly in Ghana, where ownership of the gadget surpasses the population, mobile phones are, mainly, used for social purposes and this is depleting incomes of many people. In some households over 70% of the income goes on unit purchases, not to mention the initial purchase of the gadget. No wonder, mobile phone operators have swamped the continent to do business. It is the most profitable business on the continent.

Do business online far more than socializing! I have landing page-type website online to recruit fo a US-based, adult school that teaches one a FINANCIAL EDUCATION. When I recruit new, adult students for that school, I get paid 50% of the tuition paid. Meaning from $1,000 up to $10,000 per student. So imagine I contact one Ghana local and make them a referrals marketer for me, the affiliate marketer. They find me GH-Americans that want to join the school. They show the person in the US via the local's smartphone my landing page. The US-based Ghanaian seeing it on his smartphone, goes through the process and joins the school. The school sends me a check of $1,000 for my effort. I then pay the referral marketer in Ghana 10% or $100 for the first 5 recruits he gets to join my opportunity. Afterwards, I pay him, the GH local, 20% from the 6th recruit till infinity...$200. So now, Ihave begun to uplift Ghana's economic-based, uplifting local income for smart Ghanaians that see the importance of the internet and the smartphone globally.
Bonus, now more and more US-based Ghanaians are focusing on a FINANCIAL EDUCATION instead of just an ACADEMIC EDUCATION which pays far less of an annual income. So now, retiring GH-Americans are now returning to Ghana, as retirees, with monthly incomes from the US, that are more than the average US medical doctor or US lawyer makes yearly.
So all that is needed is like-minded individuals globally thinking outside the box. Africa today, because of the internet, can be like China and India, on the upswing in this 21st Century. If all can overcome closed-mindsets, inward?
Thank you for this moment,
Black American Think-tanker
PS: Can you imagine the average income in Ghana being $25,000 a year by 2020 for local adults? Global business online can make such happen. Vastly improving Ghana's cyber cafes and protecting such from cyber criminals, hackers.
I can see local Ghanaians doing inter-continental business online with Africans in other African countries, with Western Union and Money Gram now allowing one to send not just receive.
Africa, it is a new day, seize it.
