This is a very serious matter and this must be a wake-up call to those who run our tourist industry and those whose duty it is to meet visiting personnel at our airport. The Ministry of Tourism should take note. It is a real off-putting when a visitor arrives and welcoming officiaks pester them with demand for tips and in certain cases being told how much the should give. I have had that experience before but I took the opportunity to lecture that disabed chair pusher the negative effect of his action would have on Ghana - and here is what I predicted. Also we have to look at this "dumsor" problem as a non-oarty issue and find a quick solution. The problem if "dumsor" has been there for as many years as we have had governments from different partues without finding an answer to this "dumsor". One thing we must all know is that aoart from the difficul lufe Ghanaians are going through with this "dumsor" we are weakening our pisition with the outside world in

Yes, foreigners registered low patronage on our shores in 2014 due to the Ebola scare in the sub region as a whole and the popular ‘Dumsor’ debacle. The pulling out of the German airline, Lufthansa, come 1 October, is more of a business strategy, than any inclination to the above scare story.
In fact, lufthansa which is now the mother or the monopoly shareholder of Brussels Airlines has simply given our Ghana route to her Belgian daughter airline and from October 26, Brussels Airlines will simply replace Lufthansa whilst Lufthansa takes over the Kanyan route from Brussels Airlines since that route is becoming increasingly clouded due to the passenger volume and capacity that fit perfectly with the Lufthansa's heavily fleet paragon.
Simply put, Lufthansa is having more and bigger planes than her daughter company of Brussels Airlines.
Now, read the report from the official sites of both lufthansa and Brussels Airlines over the reason below:
BRUSSELS AIRLINES:
Wednesday, June 10, 2015 — Starting 26 October Brussels Airlines will operate flights to Accra, the capital of Ghana, four times weekly. Ghana is one of the fastest-growing African countries, both economically and in terms of tourism. Accra is Brussels Airlines’ 16th destination in West Africa.
A flourishing economy thanks to oil and cocoa, a growing touristic potential and a population that is known for its friendliness and hospitality… With Ghana, Brussels Airlines adds one of the most important up and coming African countries to its network. The GDP continues to grow steadily, trade relations are booming and the number of foreign visitors and tourists increases year after year.
As from the end of October, Brussels Airlines will fly four times a week to Ghana’s capital, Accra. The flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a morning departure from Brussels and an evening return from Accra. The flight schedule allows for smooth connections to many of Brussels Airlines’ European destinations and the United States, including to the UK, Denmark, Germany, France and New York, via Brussels Airport.
“We are extremely happy to add Ghana to our African network - the country is currently not directly connected to Brussels Airport,” says Brussels Airlines VP Sales Africa Philippe Saeys. “This is good news both for the growing number of passengers that travel to or from Ghana, and for cargo clients. As well as offering comfortable travel options between Accra, Brussels Airport and Europe, this connection will also contribute to the growing trade relations between Belgium and Ghana.”
The direct flights are operated with Airbus A330 aircraft and passengers have the choice between a Business Class product with full flat beds and an Economy Class product with ergonomic seats and on demand in-flight entertainment.
LUFTHANSA AIRLINES:
Lufthansa will from the first of October this year cease operations in Ghana. The airline operations and routes in Ghana will now be taken over by Belgian carrier, Brussels airlines which Lufthansa has a stake in. Citi Business News has learnt the move follows the restructuring of Lufthansa’s Africa’s operations as a result of its acquisition of Brussels airlines among others. In June 2009, the European Commission granted regulatory approval for Lufthansa to acquire an initial 45 per-cent stake in the parent company of Brussels Airlines.
Lufthansa simultaneously acquired an option to buy the remaining 55 per-cent stake in the Belgian carrier from 2011. It will be recalled that Brussels airlines pulled out of Ghana some two years ago. Citi Business News has learnt Brussels airlines have also notified the transport ministry over its intentions to resume operations in Ghana. Per the restructuring agreement Lufthansa will now operate Brussels air’s Nairobi – Brussels route while Brussels air will take over Lufthansa’s Accra –Frankfurt route.

The corruption is way too much in Ghana. I have visited most African countries and can confess the corruption we have in Ghana is a complete disgrace for us. I spoke of it in Ethiopia, Zambia, Malawi, Tunisia, Senegal and Ivory Coast. It is like no one person has his head on intact in Ghana, and that's very troubling.
I don't know Nkrumah but having a good knowledge about his charism and objectivity, I think the country will miss him for ever.

Which tourist or foreign national would want to throw away hard earned money visiting a country where they cannot enjoy good services and facilities their monies' worth because of this irritating, disgusting and destructive power outage that Ghanaians in their usual "fa ma Nyame", literally meaning "give it to God or leave it in God's hands" have suffered for almost four years. Yet Gov't, "serious" as it pretends to be in solving albatross of a problem, never ceases contradict itself in churning out information to the public regarding the energy crisis. Gov't has consistently taken Ghanaians for granted, insulted their intelligence and has always preyed on their emotional weaknesses. This situation sucks, it stinks, and it irritates. Unfortunately there hasn't been any unanimous outrage at this situation because the nation is so polarized.
