How would an international investor in his right mind invest in a Ghc denominated bond if the declining value of the currency wipes out any interest he might get? Given the current rating of Ghana government bonds factoring in exchange rate losses and high risk those bonds would need to come at over 50% interest to be attractive to the most daring international investors.

It is sad that a country like Ghana should be ruled by a party formed by a high school drop out and a history major as its president.

Ah,master, when the bonds are due what exchange rate would be used to transfer the funds out of the country.?This is going to put future pressure on our cedi. When the foreign investors withdrew their money out of this country last June, that deepened the slide in the Cedi. This is a bad thing. This govt is just borrowing everywhere. We are just going down the same path that Greece has gone. Please remember that we are black and may not get favours from the creditors. See how Greece is suffering.

unless you issue eurodollar bond or a bond which pays both the coupon rate and par value at maturity in a stable currency like dollars or pounds, its only an amateur who will invest in these bonds

If you are an individual or small investor...don't even contemplate in buying these bonds. On the other hand, institutional investors might find it attractive if a forward contract is used to hedge the underlining instrument.
