The analyst is wrong. The downturn was long visible by sector expert agronomists. Besides the huge smuggling issue we look at a structural problem of all the wrong agronomic practices. Spraying has destroyed the Cocoa ecosystem and COCOBOD still has no idea what they are facing.
Remaining problems are social. For many young generation farmers Cocoa is not worth the effort anymore as they cannot feed their families.
Ghana needs a complete overhaul of the sector which nobody seems to be aware of.A truly national disaster for at least a decade should be expected.

That is completely your desktop analysis. It does not reveal the problem let alone resolved. Continue that way very soon you will be sending Abinchi cocoa to the Europeans.

Under the duo Fifi Fiavi kwetey and Samuel Opuni of the Min. of Agric and Cocobod respectively of the John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't, cocoa one of Ghana's foremost foreign exchange earners has seen a drop n output after the previous NPP gov't led by President Kufuor showed consistent increase in yield of the product as a result of excellent leadership, better policies and programs, that invariably boosted production such as the mass cocoa spraying exercise.
The incompetence and the corrupt tendencies of the Mahama NDC gov't and Kwetey and Opuni has struck the cocoa sector, and the rippling effect is being felt across the Atlantic, another of the numerous unenviable records of the John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't.
The e dey bee k3k3 is unraveling and by the time it is over in 2016, Ghana will be a goner.
