They GSA have conceed in the prsence of their sector Minister that this is not the case so why do they go on peddling such untruths?. I have been quite about this system for a while and do not want to get into the main discussion but they are not being factual on the matter. I will continue to state that ASHI become relevant only if all stakeholders such as Destination Inspection Companies, Customs and other permit issuing bodies will support it otherwise it will definately create extra cost to the Ghanaian Shipper and the economy at large.

ASHI system will work brilliantly and save hunreds of millions of dollars in Customs duties revenue. The role of the customs officer will be very different from before because they will havenothing to do with handling monies which will all be done electronicall. If everything matches as per the information declared on the ASHI platform the goods will be cleared in 48 hours as the duties would have been collected in advance.
The sad part is that our country has been hijacked by crooks foe a long time so much that ordinary people can not understand how to do straight forward business. The Custom Agents,Forwarding agents has extorted millions of dollers out of unsuspecting citizens.
ASHI is the first step to change all that via Banking Controls and strict quality checking of Goods received.

Okay, Can the ShipperS Council In DETAIL THE implementation Plan needed in implementing ASHI for all of to see and scrutinize to see whether indeed, it will help importers or Not.
Or Can they hold a press conference and list in detail the how ASHI is to be implemented for people including critics, analyst and importers/exporters to ask relevant questions so that we all see whether it will help us or Not.
But it si not enough to just come out and say ASHI will help people. HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A SELLER POINTING A NEGATIVE HAND TO THE PRODUCT HE /SHE IS SELLING?

GSA will collect huge sums of money for a worthless piece of paper. It will increase the cost of shipping anything to Ghana by a least 300 cedi per shipment for another worthless piece of paper.

They still want to cheat the old way using "goro boys" and "connection men" that is why they do not want change. Any new system is a threat to them.
GSA should go ahead and introduce this new system to bring efficiency and cut out the goro-boys and connection men who are the only ones t become unemployed and rightly so.
Which school in Ghana teaches for one to become a "goro-boy". They should go back to school and learn something for an organised society!

Emergency Update for Exporters to GHANA
We previously wrote and informed of the implementation of new document requirements and the imposition of a certificate of conformity regime which was to be brought in last year but was postponed. Unfortunately it has all surfaced again & with typical flair & last minute lateness Ghana has introduced everything with effect from 1st March.
So, in a nutshell.
1. An ASHI has to be obtained for each and every shipment to Ghana. This document will cost £68.00 we will obtain it for you but please note that you have to give us a value for the goods which will go back to Ghanaian authorities.
2. Age ban on used vehicles over 10 Years.
3. Ban on the import of all Right Hand Drive vehicles
4. Introduction of G-CAP (Ghana Conformity Assessment Programme).
Moving on to post 1st March shipments
1. All shipments must have an ASHI document at a cost of £68.00 In order to obtain this document for you we have to present to the authorities,
Copy of the Bill of Lading (draft copy will be acceptable)
Copy of the NES Export Customs Document (value declared must match commercial invoice) that we prepare for you.
Copy of the Goods Invoice (commercial invoice)
A Packing List
The ASHI document has a unique number which has to be mentioned in the final bill of lading, in the ships manifest & of course the document is electronic and will be held by Ghana customs so you must make sure from the outset that all facts & figures are correct. Please note that any amendment to the ASHI document after it has been finalised will incur a penal charge of £68.00
2. G-CAP. SGS have been nominated to implement this on behalf of the Ghanaian authorities. Their information is mentioned in full below along with their attachments. Please read it all carefully.
‘’
The document entitled ‘SGS-PCA-GHANA-DATASHEET’ gives some background information regarding the programme and also outlines the applicable fee structure as defined by the Ghana Standards Authority, the document entitled “SGS-GIS-PCA-GHANA-PRODUCT LIST” gives information relating to the regulated items, but please note that this is a working list and that it will be subject to further additions.
To apply for certification for a shipment please complete the attached request for certification and return it to me along with the following supporting quality documentation:
• A copy of the final commercial invoice
• A copy of the packing list
Along with the above information we also require you to provide us with as much quality information as possible relating to the goods that are being shipped:
• A copy of the Manufacturers ISO / GMP certificate
• Copies of any test reports (where applicable)
• Certificates of Analysis (where applicable)
• Technical specifications / Data Sheet (where applicable)
• Electronic copies of any brochure pages that the goods may appear on
Please note that at this stage some of the final details of the programme are yet to be announced, specifically regarding product registration and licensing – as soon as these details are announced SGS will circulate the information as appropriate.
