YOU HEDGE THE PRICE OF A PRODUCT WHEN THE PRICE IS CONSTANTLY ON THE DECREASE, BUT PETROLEUM PRODUCT PRICES ARE NOT ALWAYS ON THE DECREASE.
INFACT THE INVERSE IS RATHER THE CASE.
INVEST AND INCREASE THE PRODUCTION LEVELS AND EXPORT QUANTITIES TO MITIGATE GLOBAL PRICE SHOCKS INSTEAD OF CREATING LOOTING AND SHARING MONIES WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN INVESTED IN THE PETROLEUM SECTOR.

Even when a barrel of oil is sold for $20, I don't think the ordinary Ghanaian should care. Politicians have been stealing Ghana's oil revenue. The personnel of the Ghana Fiscal Institute are imposters who do not know economics. The trend is falling oil prices; so how can you hedge?

Fall out of the price of crude oil, these same naysayers are pushing the govt to embark on hedging strategy,to throw good money down the drain! And you know what, this may just be the best thing that the Goood Lord has ordered for this nation, given the current agreement in place that has robbed our nation of its fair share of this national asset.
When the world price hits rock bottom[that is,when the unit production cost exceeds the price of a barrel of crude oil, these international brigands and their domestic accomplices, who engineered the current lopsided arrangement, will abandon ship, and allow us to reclaim what is rightfully ours, without any hassles! And this may allow us to build a truly integrated petrochemical industry in this country.
I hope the present administration will seize this golden opportunity to help spur our nation`s development. Enough of this "Koto be ton"[China-Dubai] nonsense, that is benefitting only a handful of people!
