  Politicians will always be politicians. I told Spio Garbrah to contact my office about a fast track port management solutions all to no avail. All they are interested in is conferences and foreign investors. I offered similar solutions to President Kuffour and no one came back to me. The current system is open to abuse because too many processes and people involved and in Ghana what do you expect.

  Please remove those Clearing Agents. They are the conduits for the big corruption and bribe taking Custom Officers. Hence the high cost of clearing goods from the ports.

  Please remove those Clearing Agents. They are the conduits for the big corruption and bribe taking Custom Officers. Hence the high cost of clearing goods from the ports.
  Could someone tell me why one should need a clearing agent to clear goods from the ports? We should be made to deal directly with the custom officers.
  In the West, one could sit on a computer in the comforts of home or the office and your goods are cleared and brought to you by the truckies without even setting a foot in the ports. Who needs a corrupt clearing agent.

  Importers (personal effects) have to pay the Ghana Cargo Handling Company for various services. But for heaven's sake why should one pay an average of about Gc1000 to the shipping company for ' handling charges' after one has already paid for the shipping? Grimaldi could not give me an answer except to say that 'the container is ours'. Grimaldi charges $40 per day after the 7 day grace period!! Sad to say the grace period is wasted by all kinds of government bureaucracies. The collusion between Grimaldi greed and govt. inefficiencies is killing us.
