PIAC should not even be starving of any funds or resources. The nature of PIAC's work if it is to be useful and contribute meaningfully to Ghana's socio-economic development with regards to our oil resource, then PIAC should be at the forefront in providing the interface between the citizenry and the management of the collective oil resource by the executive, adequately resourced, completely independent, provide the needed information and insight timeously and frequently as their mandate demands, to forestall the situation where, oil revenue has become a curse in some countries in the sub-region.
The excuse and reason and attempt at rationalization of the dire straits in which PIAC finds itself by Dr. Assenso of the Mahama NDC gov't's Seth Terpker-led Ministry of Finance is completely unacceptable, completely untenable, lacks logic and inimical to Ghana's socio-economic development based on prudent management of our oil revenue and on an engaged and informed citizenry.
The actions of the Mahama NDC Seth Terkper-led Ministry of Finance can only be a deliberate attempt to cripple and thwart the efforts of PIAC in bringing true informed clarity and education to the citizenry in the management of Ghana's oil resource.
Dr. Assenso clearly does not appreciate the importance of true, unadulterated, relevant and adequate information, the dissemination of that information in a timeous manner in a way and manner that keeps the citizenry engaged and informed and in satisfying the needed, appropriate and badly required checks and balances in the management of our petroleum revenue.
That is not a direction that Ghana can afford to go.
The Finance Ministry should provide the needed resources to PIAC to execute it's mandate in lieu of provisions that would be advanced to ensure the unrestricted independence of PIAC and the unrestricted financing of PIAC to execute it's critical mandate.
That is a non-negotiable position, most especially when there are reports that, the petroleum revenue from our nascent oil industry, are being misapplied, misappropriated and mismanaged by the Mahama NDC gov't. The mandate of PIAC should run true irrespective of which gov't is in power, lest Ghana suffers the completely avoidable oil resource curse.

The NDC govt keeps trumpeting that all is well but here with the truth at last. Yet even the president keeps denying this.
