No disrespect to agriculture, however, considering the size and population of Ghana, we don't even have enough land for just agriculture.
If we want to be developed in this 21st century and solve our unemployment, GDP, strong cedi etc, the earlier we embark on manufacturing industries and building viable transportation infrastructure. Railway lines from the filthy Accra to Paga with the view of linking the network to all regional centers. I know the "We don't have money" attitude but we pay judgement debts. If we could build just one mile of durable well cemented dual carriage road a year, it would be better. Please, when we talk about industries and projects, we shouldn't waste money on Nkomfem, the guinea fowls of today are smart and more adventurous. Kwame Nkrumah, where are thou? We hated communism, but a corrupt govt. is worse.

you dont get it-for Ghana and indeed Africa to develop we need that unity that Nkrumah talked about-tiny small Ghana can not engage in any meaningful manufacturing as there will be no real market to sell to for that substantial profit and growth . until we (mainly leaders) in Africa come together and formulate better way of "wholistic" development plan for our 800million population we will not have that meaningful development that we all need.

The Bank of Ghana (BOG) has no Eastern Regional headoffice. The BOG must ask for land from the King of Akyem (Okyehene) to construct this building. I don´t believe that the BOG has accurate data on the economic activity in the at least 12 Akyem districts which make up more than half the population on the region. The GDP and GNI of these Akyem districts are very high. They stem from:
Gold mining
Diamond mining
Cocoa
Oil Palm (the largest in West Africa)
Timber
Software development
etc
The money supply and capital in the at least 12 Akyem districts are wholly inadequate. BOG must remove impediments to the setting up of rural banks in these districts and encourage ADB and GCB to open branches in these districts.
The government must further ensure that wholly owned Ghanaian banks, including rural banks, get at least 80% of the banking revenue.

Sure, we need to go into manufacturing from agricultural machinery, cars, furniture, among other things. Everything has to start from somewhere. We must encourage ourselves. God bless Ghana.

There isn't any country in the world which has developed and thus, reached both upper and middle class—in terms of incomes and social status—without the Almighty magic of "industrialization."
Industrialization covers the creation of "the manufacturing sector" to first add value/s to existing natural products and to manufacture new products. By so doing, TECHNOLOGY is uncovered to manufacture the MOTOR (Engine) which powers industrial, business and household products. Manufacturing creates JOBS, increases export trade, reduces the appetite for and reliance on foreign goods, it conserves foreign exchange; and it surely helps to put our scientists and engineers to work for the country. Lastly, by the sheer fact that a nation is "technologically developed" commands a great deal of respect around the world. JUST STOP BEING A THIRD WORLD AND PRIMARY PRODUCTS EXPORTER-IN-CHIEF!!
Look at the USA, Japan, Germany, France, England and even South Korea, Malaysia, Brazil, South Africa, India, Hong Kong, etc., etc. They're all technologically capable of manufacturing most of their own goods by which several jobs are created, but above all “they EXPORT” a great deal of their manufactured products to other countries.
Our policy makers should pay careful attention to what the ALOWORKS chief is advocating, because that the only way that we can help ourselves and save our country. Heavy reliance of foreign manufactured goods ain’t going to get us anywhere.

ALL GHANAIANS KNOW IS I HOLD 10 PHDs, MSc, BSc, THEN THEY SIT IN AIR-CONDITIONED OFFICES BRAGGING THAT "I AM A VANDAL" AND THE REST OF ALL THAT NONSENSE.
MEANWHILE, ALL THOSE SO-CALLED UNIVERSITIES OF GHANA, KNUST, CAPE COAST, ETC HAVE NEVER PRODUCED A SINGLE GRADUATE WHO CAN MANUFACTURE A WHEELBARROW TYRE.

YOU ARE HUNDRED PERCENT RIGHT WITH YOUR COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF THE
ECONOMY,LACK OF DYNAMIC INDUSTRIES
MANUFACTURING AND PROCESSING PLANTS AND;TO ACCELERATE ECONOMIC GROWTH, EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, INCOME AND BETTER STANDARDS OF LVING IN GHANA.
FIRST AND FOREMOST CALLS FOR MASSIVE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT, CONSTRUCTION,REGULAR SUPPLY OF ENERGY,WATER,COMMUNICATION,ROADS, TRANSPORTATION, SANITATION AND WASTE MANAGEMENT.
SHOULD BUSINESSES BE DONE WITH CELL PHONES AND ENERGY BREAK DOWNS.
WE NEED TO REFLECT AND TO KNOW WHY ARE STILL TOO LATE TO CATCH UP.
PROGRESS IN THE MANUFACTURING CALLS FOR THE PROMOTION OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE RESEARCH, VOCATIONAL AND TECCNICAL TRAINING IN THE COUNTRY AND FOR THEM TO TURN OUT PRACTICAL PROFESSIONAL QUALITY SKILLED WORKFORCE,COMPETENT IN THE KNOWLEDGE TO ESTABLISH MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN THE COUNTRY.
GHANA IS STILL BLESSED WITH MANY FACTORIES THAT WERE ESTABLISHED IN THE LATE FIFTIES THROUGH TO EARLY SIXTIES AND STILL ABANDONED IN THE COUNTRY.
IT IS TIME THESE FACTORIES ARE HANDED OVER TO WELL EDUCATED AND TRAINED ENGINEERS AND PRECISION SKILLED WORKFORCE WITH VISION, MISSION AND PURPOSE TO ACCELERATE MANUFACTURING,PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF GOODS AND SERVICES IN THE COUNTRY.
HERE CALLS FOR THE SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE OF THE GOVERNMENT, THE MINISTRY OF TRADE AND INDUSTRIES TO PROVIDE THOSE READY TO INVENT AND TO MANUFACTURE, WITH LOW INTEREST RATES,IN THE RENOVATIon,IMPORTATION OF THE NECESSARY MACHINES AND EQUIPPMENT IN RUNNING THE OLD FACTORIES.
IT IS RATHER UNFORTUNATE THAT, THE SO CALLED EDUCATED IN GHANA STILL REMAIN UNCONVINCED OF THE IMPORTANCE OF SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY IN CREATING ECONOMIC GROWTH IN GHANA.
THE QUESTION IS ARE THE EDUCATED WITH BIG DEGREE TITLES FULLY EQUIPPED WITH THE TOOLS IN TECHNICAL KNOW-HOW AND TO TURN THE WHEELS OF INDUSTRIALIZATION IN THE COUNTRY.
THIS CLEARLY INDIVCATES WHY POLITICS HAS BECOME TO THE MANY AS PREOCCUPATION-CAMPAIGN TRAILS FROM DAY ONE AFTER NATIONAL GENERAL ELECTIONS, PRAYER ANBD THANKSGIVING TOURS IN THE COUNTRY.
THIS IS A RESULT OF OUR CONTINUED BACKWARDNESS,UNDERDEVELOPMENT AND EXTREME POVERTY.
AND NEVER SHOULD WE LOSE SIGHT OF THESE NEGATIVE REALITIES.
