You are the same person who will come running and crying when the ban causes a shortage and therefore very high prices due to shortage. Not to mention some of your family members who either sell cooked and uncooked rice will suffer when their small scale business collapses. Unless you're one of the rich ones, if that is the case don't talk for the majority.

IF YAW KORAN WERE A CHINESE WHO MADE THIS POISONOUSLY WICKED AND SELFISH STATEMENT HE WOULD HAVE BEEN EXECUTED BY THAT GOVERNMENT WITHOUT THE BUTT OF AN EYE LID. BLOOD-SUCKING SSRIDA WANT TO ENTRENCH THEIR CORRUPT METHODS BY WHICH THEY IMPORT ROTTEN RICE, EVADE TAXES, RE-BAG SAME AND SELL THEM TO THE PUBLIC FOR KILLER PROFITS. RICE IMPORTS ARE A PAIN AND AN ULCER TO THE ECONOMY. GET IT OFF, PRESIDENT MAHAMA. BY THE WAY, MOST EXECUTIVE MEMBERS OF SOME OF THESE ASSOCIATIONS ARE IN THE PAY OF THE FOREIGN CARTELS THAT EXPORT THESE ITEMS TO US.

1. lets reduce import by 500,000 tons to 1,300,000 tons.
2. plan to produce in excess of the 1,800,000 tons
3. lets have stocks that can cater for at least 3 years so we can have some for export in other to create / maintain jobs. Let's not rush like the foreign currency experience. Be careful, good policy but might use the wrong approach once again

This is a wrong policy. The World Trade Organization which we are signatory to it will not take this kindly. We can reduce rice importation by sensitizing our people to go into rice production and research. You ban and also get banned. France at some point decided to ban products from Europe in the early 1900 and got isolated from the rest of Europe. We live in the area of free trade and free movement and this will not work. In 1980 the PNDC decided to ban the importation of Mitsubishi vehicles because it lacked safety features. The company then donated 300 of these vehicles to the Government and what did they do? They accepted the offer and its history now. We don't know what we are about as Ghanaians

TIME FOR THESE PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT.IT IS UPON THE HARD WORKING ILLITERATE FARMERS AND UNSKILLED MINE WORKERS WHO CONTINUE TO EARN GHANA'S FOREWIGN EXCHANGE AND FOR THE NATION TO SERVICE ITS IMPORT AND NATIONAL BUDGETS IN THE COUNTRY.
THE RICE DEAKERS NEED TO BE TOLD TO EMULATE THE EXAMPLES OF THE COCOA FARMERS,AND TO PRODUCE RICE FOR EXPORT TOO.
