Say I bought a new refrigerator (energy efficient) that does not contain any harmful chemicals in the USA 2 years ago and want to ship it to Ghana now. How does the law treat such item? I know the law was made for older fridges that were not energy efficient and also contained harmful chemicals not good for the ozone layer. But how about newer fridges that have been slightly used overseas?

What a government who does not want its citizens to work? Always spoiling their work. When did these items caused any problem? Since time immemorial second hand clothing and used fridges have been used by all including officials of the so- called energy commission. Please leave Ghanaians to work for their daily bread and stop centralsing everything to favour the government.

They are seizing and destroying peoples stuff because they cannot make any profit out of it. Even in America and europe where brand new stuff could be acquired innew conditions, people still go to the thrift sheops and garage sales to buy used items so what the hell is custom talking about? and who is less corrupt than custom officers, always begging for money when one arrives at kotoka international airport. my school prefect who has worked as a custom officer, OPERATIONS owns like five houses in Accra where did he get all that money from considering how much they make a month? Ghana does not manufacture electronics in the country and when people are trying to help the poor ones you wanna bitch about it? why not extend it to vehicles whereby only new ones are allowed in the country? Fuck customs and its corrupt government headed by one bastard president. Some of thier officers come to the states and use their names as owners of vehicles purchased here, take less money from the actual owners and ship to ghana for less duty.

Only in Ghana do seized goods get destroyed. Aren't there any charities, old people homes, children homes that can make use of these goods?
The way our policy makers think leaves so much to be desired. Shame!
