We should accept that abuse because we don't own our own businesses? That is outright foolishness on your part. These people should be told that we are not inferior to them. I witnessed this attitude in Ghana and challenged the Lebanese guy till he backed off. He later asked his employee where I am from, and when I said I am from Ghana, he was shaking his head.

No the problem needs to be highlighted so the workers can gain better treatment and also cater for their families. The article actually mentions unions....as well as workers not being able to bargain for pay, due to our laws. USE YOUR BRAINS.

Strangely enough- should you happen to visit some of the developed countries -you'll be sorry for these same stupid, greedy Indias, Chinese and Lebanese who competes with other Africans for factory and demeaning jobs, yet when in African countries they feel 'big'; the workers should stand firm against them and govt. should lay down the rules and law for the to follow. I do not think if n African were to have a business in any of these countries their govt. will agree for their people to be exploited. Another stack reality is that we Ghanaians 'worship' these people because of their so called 'white skins' earlier we stopped this absurd worship the better for us!

it saddens my soul to read news like this. The stupid uneducated Lebanese, Indians and Chinese that could not find jobs in their home countries are bossing us around? What have we become? It goes to show how our lack of leadership is affecting our livelihood. Laws protecting workers rights should have been enacted years ago. We shouldn't sit back and be treated like this. If these foreigners can't treat us right. We should get them kicked out of the country.

The govt (both previous and current) is to take the FULL blame for the treatment because it has failed to implement laws to protect the Ghanaian employee.

That's where we disagree. Our political leaders/business leaders should ensure minimum wage laws are respected by foreigners period. They should also ensure the unions are strengthened and all workers are encouraged to join.

Generally speaking,Chinese, Indians and Lebanese have no respect for Africans. The ones who are born in third-world countries are usually the worst. I think that most of them need to go back home. Some come to Ghana with nothing and within a year (of cheating and taking advantage of Ghanaians), they become rich.
I currently work with an Indian who feels the need to be superior and the need to treat me badly. I do not allow her to do that I usually put her in her place. That is what is needed - people need to stand up for themselves and report these people. The way some Ghanaians treat these people adds to the problem. Anyone who is not Black is called "obroni" or "yevu" etc. and is treated like God. This makes them feel special. I understand that for the fear of losing one's job, not everyone can tell them to get lost. I am glad that I can. Nobody can justify to me that a Black person is inferior to other groups. Until they can, I will keep believing that Black people are blessed and need to use their talents wisely. I am proud to be Black.

I worked with a Ghanaian in a school, who was running to the head to gossip all the time. 2 colleagues lost their job because of her. I knew it will get to my turn because I challenged the head. I told her to stick her job at the time they needed me most. I beat them at their own game. All I'm saying is our people should stop worshiping theses people and by the same token stop taking advantage of their kind who gives them job and they end up stealing from him or her.

It's a shame that we as a people adore and respect the Chinese, Lebanese, Syrians and other internationals more that our compatriots. The most shameful is seen when most our ladies yearn to have the so-called half-cast children. Sadly enough some Ghanaian have not taken the responsibilities to reading about about the historical, cultural, geographical condition and the the king of political climate the Labanese, Chinese and Syrians live in. We do have our challenges as nation just all nations have gone through and still experiencing. These empty shells have been given so much recognition in Ghana thus disrespecting and humiliating unsuspected Ghanaians with impunity. We, have created a smooth path to look down on our people while these international are simply NOTHING in their country of origin. We seem to have on national pride. The mindset in Ghana now is that EVERYTHING FOREIGN IS GOOD. In our national soccer the authorities prefer foreign players to equally local talented players, BUT when it comes to the real national development, political parties in power FAIL to invite and tap into Ghanaians overseas who have tremendous experience and knowledge to meet the task at home. When are going uplift and cling to our national pride and use our educated, talented people for our national development. Labanese, Chinese and Syrians and most of the Europeans nation live in abject poverty more that we have in our country. There so many Chinese who live abject poverty and oppression and that in Syria and Lebanon. Greater part of Europe is simply living in poverty. What shame have we brought onto our shoulders!
