I really doubt the ability of the economic management team to achieve this target. I really challenge any member of the team to debate me on this issue as I am leaving my phone number. They should not mislead President Mahama into making categorical statements on promises of rapid economic recovery only to be ridiculed .
I urge every reader of my comment to careful ponder over my case. First of all do these economist know that due to high cost of fertilizer and cost of ploughing, farmers have drastically reduce their acreages ? Do these economist know that the rains are very eratic up north and this will automatically affect crop yield? I am a farmer and I think in this regard I am better informed than Some of these managers of our economy. It's practical.
Second most important case is that, we should doing propaganda with food production. We are never fully sufficient in food production for probably two decades now. We are told that we have attained about 45-60% sufficiency in rice production. I challenge anybody and where and dare say that it is false and misleading. I am sure we are no where near 20%. The evidence is abundantly clear for all to verify. Please go to any rice distributing/wholesale outlet and see if they have 20% made in GH rice: in most cases there is zero grain of GH in those shops. We all in GH are aware of manipulations of import invoices at our ports of entry ( Anas Aremiyawo has already proved this phenomenon to Prez Mills) . From the aforementioned, one can imagine that if we are told that GH imports 500000 tons of rice, the true figure could be actually 1 million tons. Added to this is the rice that comes from Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria which is largely smuggled.
Thirdly, our requirements of other cereals are largely imported. I again challenge any one to go to Nima market on Wednesdays and would see the assorted beans varieties from Togo,Nigeria and Niger. ( Shame unto us Ghanaians. How can dry niger be feeding us?)
Lastly, what ever policies and programs this bail out is going to roll out will come to nought if there is no simultaneous effort to prosecute all those indicted in reports of SADA , Subah, Gyeeda ISOFOTON and all public institutions. If this not done, it would be an impetus for people to continue to loot our resources. This requires a concerted effort since corruption transcends partisan lines. Whatever bail out or grants will be akin to carrying a basket to fetch water. God Bless Ghana.

Everyone should understand by now that a sustainable recovery of Ghana's economy requires a permanent balance between spending and earning FOREX. The unstable equilibrium of the past has been knocked off for a number of reasons since 2012.
The only counter force at the moment is the very limited income from oil export, a drop in the bucket. As long as I stare at the country, I am not able to discover the light at the end of the tunnel or a great convincing projet around the corner.
