This is professionalism. With state organizations like The Forestry Commission , Dept of Parks and Gardens, The Institute of Renewable Resources, UDS, , and the various research institutes constituting the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research especially SARI,we had no business entrusting the Savanna Reaforestation project to novices.
It is good that we have provided shade trees in many cities and towns but they require regular pruning and replacement.Some of them are threatening buildings ,roads, utility lines and cables .The city and town authorities can in collaboration with the Parks and Gardens Dept.,Forestry Commission NADMO and Fire Service embark on systematic and scientific harvesting of trees and arrange sales to commercial and industrial users of this resource.
The Assemblies in collaboration with the chiefs and people should require villages and towns to have communal and private woodlots.These measures can help reduce the pressure on our forest reserves,
