IMF conditionality which Ghana has not met is the devaluation of the cedi. Devaluation of the cedi is intentional or "forced" reduction in the value of the cedi which is different from the depreciation of the cedi which is caused by interaction of market forces. The devaluation of the cedi would trigger a higher rate of inflation with its attendant adverse effects on the economy.
It is not advisable for the government to rush to the IMF. The government should adopt a "wait and see" attitude to assess the effects of the monetary policies it has so far pursued.

So because Iceland and whatever have gone for the devil's money,we shouldn't shy from it?
What kind of retarded analysis is this.
Are we under the same leadership corruption as Iceland?

Isn't John Gatsi that said Ghana is not in crisis and the economy is doing well than expected exceed robust expectation and there is not bad about the $23 billion debt nothing to show for.And now the same John Gatsi is talking about bailout from IMF thinking IMF is a foolish organization bailing corrupt government paying fictitious judgement debts and inflating contracts to enrich themself.Mr Gatsi need to know that IMF will not bail Ghana out for not doing any investigation of what the $23 billion was use for and check records to see if deserve bailout.Government has borrowed $23 billion in 5years no water,no electricity, workers not paid and thinking about bailout.Mr Gatsi nust know that all that glittle is not gold.He should not think that because IMF has money their workers are well to do.Some of IMF workers are struggle to feed their families and IMF haven't bail them out and you have $23 billion and cannot acount for one seccessful achievement and you want bailout. It is rather profitable for IMF to share that bailout money to their workers than to use the money to bailout Ghana.

What if, if you say. if you can not fix the country then get out. so the one who can fix take over. So simple this government should bail themself out of power so who ever can fix the problem talk over, that is what you should say. if you are driven a car with your friends. And you are not capable of driven then you get down and let who can driven take over. you don't drive to kill your friends. We were dancing when we found the oil. Now where is the money for the oil, the money for gold, money for cocoa? The problems is Ghana is eazy fix, but the problem is, if you don't have the brain then you can not fix it. One thing I know for sure is, this leaders we have are not smart. Learn from China and Iran. The question how do we get manufacturing to the Country? The answer is ourself.

The record of the IMF in developing countries is there for all to see.Its policies have impoverished the poor in developing countries the more.Bad economic policies by present and past governments have led to the present economic mess the nation finds itself in now. With all our vast resources including oil our economy is on its knees.A disgrace to past and present governments.Better management of the economy is the permanent answer to our economic woes.

Folks let us look at what the guy said . he said the govt has already imposed many of those measures that IMF usually impose but they bring money. here we impose these same measures but no money. the problem is money. all the new measures need money. He is not saying IMF is the answer but ourselves. look at SADA, etc is it not ourselves? I also agree that we are the problem and not necessarily IMF.
