Yes, we lose $1.2 billion in uncollected taxes treated as incentives for foreign investors, but the question to ask is how much do we lose in terms of withdrawal of foreign investments in the absence of the tax incentives. We cannot loot and squander our own resources and expect foreigners to bring in their monies to invest in Ghana without incentives. We are only getting what we deserve.

What benefit do we gain from all these so called foreign investors? They are only here to feed us and take out everything. Only a few in Accra, affiliated with the corrupt officials get to enjoy these so called investments. How about the rest of the country? We are damaging our lands and using our sweats to feed a few people who want to swim in swimming pools in Accra where the sea is free, plus they also want to live and work in tall buildings with air conditions. A big division of class is about to unfold and if things are not put into proper place, we will begin to see attacks in broad daylight. So far so good but this slow trickle down economy is dangerous. There is bound to be more chaos in our largest cities.

The more relevant issues is not tax loses on incentives (we can not even call it losses); the actual tax loses are Indian and Lebanese companies scammingly "folding up" after the tax break and selling their companies to themselves under the name of other companies they own. These are the real losses government must watch.

It is funny how the Daily Guide would worry about any tax incentives the Government might have given these Businesses to attract their investments in the Country but it would not seriously look into the very Contracts that the Gov't signed with many of these Businesses to get them here, in the first place.
The sale of various State Enterprises still remain enshrouded in a thick blanket of suspicious impropriety. Our Goldmines, Telecoms, Kosmos-EO Oil deal, STX, etc.. The Media choose what and which aspects of these Economic transactions to talk about for the political expediency of their favorite Parties. Hardly does any of these Media place the National interests first to scour the bottom of these highly questionable Contracts.
Wouldn't the Paper concede that tax incentives are a typical Capitalist lure for Businesses to invest in Nations? So, how come the Daily Guide, noted for its support for the ultra-Capitalist NPP, worries about any such incentives, now?
Is it how our Politics is now played? That, if one does something, it is okay. But when the other does the same thing, it is not okay, even under similar circumstances? Another example that comes to mind is the Free Education in Ghana. When Akufo-Addo proposed it, the NDC rejected it. But when President Mahama proposed it, the NDC welcomed it.
How can we ever move ahead with such blatant stupidity? If some pertinent factors make a proposal unfeasible under particular circumstances, or certain modalities associated are the culprit for its impossibility, the Public deserves to be apprised intelligently of those reasons, and not fed with superficial outright dismissal of the proposal.
Long Live Ghana!!!
