What is the purpose of this GRA thanksgiving service? Have they stopped the bribery? Have the stopped the collusion with the tax payers to pay less taxes, have the stopped extorting monies from struggling traders into their own pockets at the expense of the disabled, children, the disadvantage of society?
This is sheer mockery of God. These people collect monies due to the state into their own pockets at the expense of the state and the poor and yet they want God's favour so that they can continue to amass more wealth at the expense of the poor. The Ghanaian mental model and psyche is seriously flawed. What a bunch of hypocrites and jokers.
Instead of thinking of how to devise systems to address the loopholes so the can set higher targets, they are rather praying for more loopholes so that they can enrich themselves more.

This is very unusual. How come suddenly, a secular Government outfit like the GRA takes to Publicly thank God in such a grandiose atmosphere? Jesus denounced the ostentatious public praying by the Pharisees. Dies the Agency not know why? Or, its religiousity is not Biblically based for it to have learnt lessons from the Bible?
It seems like the Agency is pre-empting any scrutiny from both the Public and Auditing Authorities with this farcical display of piety and implied high integrity.
Naaaa..!!!! This does not convince anyone that the GRA has been doing its utmost, exemplifying honesty and integrity in their service to the Nation. If I had my way, I would suggest that such show as the Agency put up, should be the strongest invitation for the Auditor-General to dig into its books.
What a puerile ploy to distract the Public? I can, off the bat, notice a huge lapse in the Agency's responsibility that renders this religious thanksgiving ceremony a hoax.
The first of such lapses to note is the failure of the Agency to vet all these folks in Government, or associated with Politicians, who turn millionaires overnight. Why hasn't the GRA investigated them to establish the legitimacy of their financial sources? Another is the failure of our Parliamentarians and Government Officials to declare their assets before taking Office. Why has the Agency not invoked the relevant Laws on them?
These employees of the GRA seem to be only thanking God for possibly not being caught for their ineptitude or corruption, and still retaining their jobs.
But God must not be mocked!! The day of reckoning will soon come.
Let me offer the GRA some little religious advice. There is a special significance for the choosing of Matthew, the Tax Collector, by Jesus, to be one of his Disciples, and Zacchaeus, another Tax Collector, to descend from the tree he climbed to catch a glimpse of the Messiah to be the latter's host. Let the Agency think about that.
