That is Ghana and Africa for you. What we do for ourselves ? Nothing but looting of national wealth. President Jacob Zuma of South Africa spent €20 million euro not to build a village but just to renovate. President J. A. Kuffour's son owns a hotel , not before his father came to power but whiles in power. We need to be colonized again because black African man cannot not run a Nation.

History is teaching us the right path to take but our leaders in all aspect of Ghanaian life are the problem. Take an example of a clergy,am talking about these so call churches that have sprung all over the place with the poor congregation spending all their time in church and spending the little money they have on the upkeep of the church mostly benefitting the self imposed Bishop,Highpriest and founders of these churches with expensive cars, suits, houses, jewery and mostly self centered pronouncements that make them guilty anytime they don't meet the demands of these no good Ministers. Our country will start to develop when we find a leader who think more of Ghana than a Political party. This will not be the old guards of Akuffo Addos and the Rawlings. This will come from Mahama,Bawumia and the current crop who have study abroad and have sense of what the country needs. Also the most important for me is for the country to have the sufficiency in power generation and water which is the basic development needs for any major advancement,so Ghanaian lets all chip in the little good deed we have and stop being partisan. We can do this for mother Ghana so lets all hands be on deck.

Elinam, I think the idea behind these mega projects is to create a hub that will attract those with great intelligence, creativity and potentially, capital. You can imagine that if - and it's a big "if" - these projects succeed, they would likely attract many of our few bright minds who have left the country to pursue their fortune in better environments. Research shows that if you are able to put together into a confined space a gathering of brilliant, well off, creative people, a lot of economic good is generated in their interaction. Consider silicon valley. We merely hope to do on a much smaller scale this sort of environtment. If it succeeds, the merry band of residents in this hope city would create business opportunities that would benefit the poor, unemployed Ghanaians who can't afford to live in hope city. What they need are well paid jobs that could be furnished by those who live in hope city. This of course is a long shot. A bid risk pregnant with lots of hope. But given our current situation, will you deny us the need to take big chances? Welfarism is good and humane. But big business ventures are needed to provide jobs and opportunities for the people to excercise their creative potential. This is what makes a nation. Not alms, however, well intentioned that may be.

We need to be colonized again? Have my sympathies for you are one of the most ignorant africans who do not know the enormous harm western colonization of Africa has done to the continent and is still doing to it.I can assure you that despite Africa not having 'good leaders' it will never be re-colonized by our former colonizers who are only interested in our resources and not the development of the continent and its people. Those africans calling for the re-colonization of Africa are a disgrace to the continent and day-dreaming.All that African nations need are strong institutions and fearless citizens who will hold their leaders to account.By the way the writer should know that Europe has had its fair share of bad leaders-Hitler,Mussolini,King Leopold of Belgium and recently George Bush who have brought untold sufferings to the world including nations in Africa.

You raised good points and am sure those comments are just reaction to growing frustration. I also believe Africa's development is fast approaching and it's just a matter of time. How fast depends on leadership and accountability. It took a single individual the great Nkrumah to change the whole face of Africa, it's dreams and hope vitalised in a short spsace of time. So who knows we may have someone like that in the near future.

Ghana has seen very little development since independence, yet we don't know what our leaders are doing with the vast resources the country has blessed with. although, majority of Ghanaians are poor, it should not be the reason to stop such development. we need a modern city in Ghana

The Western countries are the most corrupted cultures in the world. But, what they do best is to use the corrupted money to build wealth. The African corruption is not being use to build wealth. It is being use to build riches and fast cash and buying fancy cars. Fancy cars depreciate, industries and manufacturing plants doesn't.
The JP Morgans, Wells Fargo, Vandebilts, Carnegie, and the ROckefellers were all criminals. But, they used their stolen money to build wealth. JP Morgan stole money to commercialized Nicoli Tesla's AC/DC idea. That is our problem in Black Africa nations. We believe in flashy things and not wealth. Wealth building is better than just being Rich.
Wealth has foundation, Rich doesn't.
