It is not the GHA that should set service Standards for the Hotel Industry in Ghana. The National tourist Board which is the regulatory body has the jurisdiction to set these standards for the hotels for implementation- the $64,000 question is does the GTB knows what the service Standards are? and have the expertise in formulation the approved guidelines for these service standards? Ratings/ grading of hospitality establishments are based on these approved guidelines and requirements/criteria in various departmental categories in the hotel setting- from pre-arrival phase, Stay-over phase to Departure phase( this is where the guests experience and satisfaction is duly measured). Inspections of the hotels facilities to ensure that guidelines are being implemented is the second phase among others to improved guests satisfaction. Thirdly establishments that consistently scores above industry inspection average must be recognized in the form of quality prestigious awards to elevate their brand.
