We are waiting for him to back up his claim that NPP are behind the strikes. He shouldn't be a coward and say "let them take me to court first". Ghanaians should be critical in their thinking and stop being gullible.

I am solidly pro union and believes in striking as a tool when negotiations fail but only as a last resort. At the same time, it only fair and prudent for your empolyer to not pay you for not working. Remember, that's their tool to also use when you wanna play wayo with their money. Would you pay your cook if he/she refuses to cook? Being in a union does not give you the right to bully your boss. It's a matter of fact. Either you work and demand a pay or you stayoff and go hungry. There is a price for anything we do.

This guy is displaying his ignorance. Strike is a lawful act, refusing to pay is a criminal offence. Employers cannot refuse to pay workers who have been frustrated to the point of going on strike. It is better to talk of preventing labor strikes rather than refusing to pay striking workers. A strike action is meant to get the employer to do what labor deems a right emanating from the contractual relationship. Strikes are meant to cause the employer some pain and get him to address labor issues. The government cannot refuse to pay labor once there is a cause for the strike. Let the Government try refusing to pay striking labor and let's see what will happen. Government will be embarrassed and compelled to pay because whilst a strike action is admissible in the court of law, refusal to pay for the strike period is inadmissible, it is criminal negligence. Strike is not absenteeism, strike is not abdication or vacation of post, strike is not negligence of duty. Government has been compelled to pay judgment debts for no work done not to talk of being compelled to pay labor who have been pushed to go on strike by the government.
