How do we achieve different results when we keep on doing the same thing over and over again? any sensible government would put in place measures that assure quality, invest in the technology that identifies potential risks to improve the product. Ghana has been producing cocoa for years and it is a big revenue source for the country so where is our research and development effort or is that also consumed under corruption. Sooner or later, Ghana will sell its last shirt on the market and be left homeless for a situation that can be reversed. In the absence of forward looking and thinking, I am not surprised over the concerns expressed in the article. Our leaders are chosen not on the merit of competence but along tribal lines and that is what will drive the country to the auction market. Mark my word until we start using our brains than our emotions.

It looks like there is nothing beneficial/WORTHWHILE,VALUABLE in Ghana, that we take much care of,but leave it haphazardly to die or spoil.
THERE IS NOTHING LIKE PATRIOTISM IN GHANA.
If we do not use our brains,we would be left with nothing,in no time.
We speak of modern Ghana, but I say it's rather archaic,in reasoning and critical thinking, strategic planning, integrity, progressive vision, wisdom, probity and accountability.
It's about time we changed things before we lose it all.
Just look at TOGO.Only yesterday,we were told, they have built a modern SEA PORT.That is what we call strategic planing.
They operate FREE PORT SYSTEM,BUT HAS SUCCEEDED IN BUILDING A MODERN SEA PORT,whilst Ghana's two sea ports face congestion every now and then,BUT CONTINUE TO RAISE ITS CUSTOM DUTY CHARGES ALL THE TIME.
THAT IS STUPIDITY AT THE CORE.
FOOLS REIGNING.WHAT DO WE EXPECT?

I get this prof. because a lot of Ghanaian farmers simply don't know..and if they see it working..they think let me spray all over...but they don't know that there are rules. this simple thing can be avoided by education and putting in high laws even for local consumption..because cancer does not know or acknowledge colour..hence what is bad for a Asian, European is also bad for an African!!

Now farmers used chemicals/pesticides to clear the weeds, control pest, etc for good harvest. Our food chain and the ground water, rivers, lake etc which we drink are not safe anymore.Government should ban the importation of carcinogenic chemicals into the country as well as those produce in the country if there is any.
By aims test, one can determine if a chemical can cause cancer or not. Just blow little of this chemical on colony of cultured bacterial and if therer is mutation,it means the chemical is carcinogenic(can cause cancer if introduce into our body).

These chemicals get into the hands of our farmers who are almost all illiterates..... even most of the sellers are illiterates. The current spate of deaths all over the country is due to these chemicals.

I am not surprised about this news. I have seen ads on TV showing spraying pesticide on cocoa pods. After the spraying, you see the pesticide dripping from the pod. It appears too much of the chemical is sprayed on the pod.
