Good question. The assumptions of state operatives must first be changed - until there is a realistic understanding that the state is a regulator, there will be less desire to stay focused on being an entrepreneur.

There is a disconnect between theory and practicals. There used to be a joke that KNUST graduates did not know what a spanner or a scrtew driver looked like

says it all. How can you expect a student on a one-meal-a-day budget to fund his idea NO MATTER ITS SUCCESS PROSPECTS? The bright ideas for Microsoft, etc. were ALL supported by other individuals (eg. Bill Gates' father), entities (eg Venture Capitalists), and institutions. In Ghana, the kickbacks and bribes collected by our politicians etc. ARE NOT INVESTED IN BUDDING ENTREPRENEURS IN THE COUNTRY, BUT STASHED IN FOREIGN BANKS FR THEIR DEVELOPMENT. In Ghana, before you know it, your bright idea has been "cannibalized" by the same supposed mentor you turned to for assistance, support, or partnership.

2. Leadership -- initiative
3. Confidence -- belief in oneself
4. Creativity -- ability to produce and deliver
5. Ambition or dive
6. Enterprise, the undertaker of risks
7. Expertise - relevant ability in project
All that requirements must exist in the entrepreneur by education and training.
Such entrepreneur can only succeed in the right environment and the environment can be invoked and compelled by the power and sustainability of the project.
