To take it further,an assessment of how many calories is contained in a meal prepared with this ingredients could be developed to extrapolate how much it cost the ordinary citizen to adequately feed him or herself. Such data would also be beneficial in guaging how much a family needs to earn to be able to sustain itself and more inportantly be considered properly fed to avoid malnutition.
Malnutition especially in our vuneerable population,our children and the elderly, is particaly a menance to society since social services is lacking in Ghana. Good nutrition for the citizens of any country is the bedrock of developement and should be given the highest priority of importance if we want our children to have the brain function needed to be competitive in this fast moving global market. We increasing have to compete with not only each other as coduntrymen and women but also the whole world as a matter of fact in the global market and as such need all our strenth and mental faculties to work at uptimal capacity.
I find myself converting the prices of these normal everyday staples into the American dollars just to have a good sense of comparison. It seems to me that prices of everyday food items in Ghhana as compare to the United States are way inflated,this probably is not news to many Ghanians. The question is how much is a Ghanaian worker being paid? Are present wages reasonable? If not where exactly are the populance supposed to make up the difference to have basic meal on the table for the family?
This is an example of questions a decerning person would ask himself especially if they happen not to be a politician or priest. The politician having the advantage of receiving judgement debts and the priest God's "connection man" to make sure the politician gets a clearing bill to heaven.
The next time you are given the chance to vote, take a deep breath, think a lot about the person you vote for to look out for your interest and please don't tell me it is not important to make absolutely sure your vote is properly counted.
