That has been my fear for some time.
The automobile is getting more and more complex. Some 2012 Nissan models had FIVE on-board computers. The 2013 models not only have keyless entries but also keyless engine start!
Some Cadillac models have already replaced the entire dashboard with a tablet computer, that controls almost everything including sound entertainment, phone calls, navigation, and engine diagnosis by automatically obtaining information from the internet! The average car now has almost 30 sensors that relay info to the onboard computers.
The situation is getting worse by the month.
What should be given serious consideration is providing these artisans with informal but innovative education. No need to rely on books. Use heavily DVDs and other user-friendly media. Explain the modern trends in electronics and computerization in the native language.
They really don't have much choice. Even in America, many auto mechanics are being compelled to go back to school.
