Even though it is said is safe to do business in Africa now, putting into considerations, the risk in doing business in Africa is higher than even before. For example, after investing in a government, when there is changes of power, one has to understand that, his investment will be in danger. Simply because, the political parties will not allow the invester to go on with his business without interuptions. Most of those interruptions are about bribery to the ministers. If one refuse to give them, he risk loosing everything in the country in which he invest. For example, in happened during NPP period when they tried several times to get bribe from Malaysians. As they refuse to give, they finally let them go by telling them to leave the country. Now who losses? After some years back, they came out with a company that accept to bribe them to do business in Ghana which is Vodafone, to day Ghana telecom is even in a bad condition than when Malaysians are there. So, who will like to come and do business in such a situation?

Hi, Shamu. I am glad you were bold enough to tell us about the business atmosphere in Ghana. In reference to what these our elected officers are alleged to be accepting bribes from the Investors in Ghana. This is very scary. How can elected public officers do this? Can the Government in power enact laws to protect our Investors. Ghana needs all the best Investors to help create jobs for Ghanaians. They need protection and assurance on their hard earned Capital.
If what you are saying is correct then those involved need to be exposed. We cannot keep living like this. This will hamper our progress. Ghana needs those Investors.
Articles like this on the website is read by the whole World including potential Investors planning to enter the Ghana market. This bribery culture as you said is eating Ghana alive. How can we solve this serious problem? As a potential Investor in Ghana I need a concrete and firm answer to this. Thanks for letting us know about what is happening with Vodafone. Together we can bring progress to Ghana. Long live Ghana. May God have Mercy on Ghana.

This is what would make Africa globally attractive for business: a populace that dwells on SOLUTIONS.
Instead of:
"...Strategically addressing the difficulties above can help accelerate the rate of development in Africa by ensuring economic growth and transformation..."
It would have been much nicer to have read:
"...The following 12 detailed approaches are what Africa needs to implement in order to successfully attract global business...".
We must always resist the natural human tendency to focus on DESCRIBING PROBLEMS rather than offering
viable solutions.
But in all fairness, the article offered a good analysis of the perennial problems.

We always get these theoretical articles about business in Ghana/Africa, because the practical truth hurts. There are plenty of dishonest characters in Ghana. It is not just the government. The workers, the customers and landlords will certainly create drama that is never discussed in the Ph.D. written reports. The harsh reality is that if you move to Ghana with a team of foreign based workers and have a headquarters someplace else. Ghana is just a place for having a small branch of whatever you are doing abroad. You cannot change the mentality of 24 million people.
