The call for mining contracts to be trasparent was overdue.
The minister is to blame for inaction in the sector. Even the Model Contract was subdued to our detriment. The minister should make the right move now.

THE WHITES IN SOUTH AFRICA DEVELOPED THE AREA THEY LIVED WHEN THEY RUN THE GOVERNMENT WITH THE REVENUE FROM GOLD THEY MINED FOR THEMSELVES. GHANA CAN SECURE A LOAN TO BUY EQUIPMENTS TO MINE THEIR OWN GOLD BUT LACK OF VISION ON THE PART OF SO CALL LEADERS WHO ARE SOOO CORRUPT WON'T LET IT HAPPEN. DR. KWAME NKRUMAH HAD VISION AND PUT UP ALL THOSE INFRASTRUCTORS FOR GHANAIANS. THOSE WITHOUT VISION SEEK SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT FOR THEM. GET IN TOUCH WITH APOSTLE SARFO KANTANKA FOR SOME WISDOM. GHANA CAN DO FOR SELF.

THIS GOON DOES NOT NEED TO TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO LONDON TO PREACH A WIN-WIN SITUATION BETWEEN GHANA'S ECONOMY AND MULTI-NATIONAL MINING COMPANIES.
THE DEALS AGREED WITH THESE MULTI-NATIONAL MINING COMPANIES ARE JUST TOO FRAUGHT WITH DEFRAUDING GHANA AND THE LOCAL MINING COMMUNITIES.
DIAMOND MINING IN AKWATIA STARTED WAY BACK IN THE 1960s OR EARLIER BUT THERE'S ABOLUTELY NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT IN TERMS OF 21ST CENTURY DEVELOPMENTS IN AKWATIA FOR ITS DIAMONDS DEPOSITS, AND PRESTEA FOR GOLD DEPOSITS.
INFACT, MOST OF THOSE MINING AREAS AND COMMUNITIES ARE VILLAGES OR HAMLETS TO THIS DAY.
THE QUESTION THEN IS THIS:
WHERE DO ALL THE ROYALTIES PAID TO GOVERNMENT GO TO OVER THE YEARS?
GOVERNMENT NEEDS A WHOLESALE REVIEW AND REVISION OF ALL THOSE MINING DEALS TO ENSURE A WIN-WIN SITUATION, ELSE GHANA WOULD NOT HESITATE TO GO THE HUGO CHAVEZ WAY OF NATIONALISING ALL THOSE MINING COMPANIES AND CLEAR THOSE FOREIGNERS OUT OF GHANA.

Our continual preaching of social licence appears to be begging multinational companies to Assist govt in it's duties. Though relevant I suggest social responsibility development must be measured by how many local businesses have been develop in the area of destruction (operation) as these businesses tend to affect the social development of the area. A policy developed implemented and monitored should enhance developmental growth poles which indirectly allows multinationals attain the social license required to operate. These business should have very little governmental mingling to ensure that the society benefits fully in this case equitable distribution of the pie would be realized
