My advice to govt is that since he never had enough money to do any thing, I would tell him to build big market at a time. if it would take 2 years to finish so be it.govt must build one big market with all amenities at a time.I think that will cut down these fire outbreaks and theift. than wasteing money to put up wooden structures as markets, they are all waste of money and the govt and the country will never grow.take for a example the building kvip.instead of drilling boreholes and making wc to move the country forward.becos of this wasteful plan, the 19 years of Rawlings he has nothing to show.when will govt spend money on concrete and steel project?,when will govt enter into big projects? and stop this small small works like filling pot holes. I think the govt must be real.

Call it arson. These fires were orchestrated by the NDC to provide jobs for the constructors who financed them during the 2012 campaign.

Mr Harun Iddrisu i congratulate u for your immediate response on construction of marke ts nationwide .Sir do you know Ghana has no policy agenda on markets. The reason is former tema station market was moved out of place because of the lorry park, now what is happening there? That former tema station market was moved to the rex cenima then later to the CMB lorry station.Later they were moved again by Mr Portufie former mayor of Accra. Some of the traders went to the Agbogbloshi market and others to the salaga market. And those who went to salaga market organised themselves under the respectfully leadership of late madam Looye Commey who bought the mallam market land from Gbawe Kwatei Family of Gbawe stool. She again mobilised monies from Herself and her followers to construct mallam market. The women through their leadership has been paying whatever is due them to Gbawe stool .
That makes the women the bonafide owners of mallam market.Since mallam market got burnt for about 8 months ago the Mayor has
never had any official meeting with the leadership of the market neither has involved them in programmes of the market. The market women are organising themselves for a massive demonstration titled stealing our deed of title.where is the policy agenda of markets nationwide?

Buying and selling does not help in any way to develop a country. Why do we always talk about building markets. Do all Ghanaians have to sell to make a living. Development of a country depends on Production, manufacturing, industries and EXPORTS. Importation and selling or buying and selling does not bring development. This buying and selling mentallity will make Ghana remain primitive and underdeveloped for decades to come. President Mahama, please stop this Market building RUBBISH. Rather educate and train the people and then make manufacturing our priority.
