This is indeed true.The gov't priotity seems not be on agric.This can be seen clearly in the yearly decline of the sector contribution to GDP and growth.The officers in the field do not even get fuel and motor bikes to regularly conduct their usual home and field visits.
The government has forgotten that it is only agric that can enable the country achieve goal one of the MDGs eradicate extreme poverty by 2015.
Take for example,when teacher and nursing trainees graduate ,they are posted to start work immediately.But the trainee from agric and veterinary has to search for work or better still wait till some one goes on pension or die for the ministry to replace or engage someone.No wonder farmers say,they not see agric extension officers often.

We don't need them anymore. They should buy some parcels of land and farm themselves or get a life. These are the people depending on the government for their monthly income and perks like cars. We don't need anymore of these ... read full comment
