Scale adjustment deprives ghanaian cocoa farmers $30 million every year.Authorities are not monitoring the Licensed Buying Companies (LBC) properly.The result is massive cheating through huge margins of scale adjustment.A 64kg bag of dried cocoa beans on adjusted scale can actually weigh 7kg more on a free Standards Board approved scale.All these add to cost of production.In fact cocoa farmers can only enjoy what they are doing if the issue of scale adjustment is properly dealt with. Purchasing Clerks (PCs) have refused to free their scales, saying "cocoa business is risky and can only be done with adjusted scale" .Four 4 months after the COCOBOD distributed scales to farmers, scale adjustment is still going on. If the farmer is loosing average 8kg/bag to the purchasing clerk, where does he get enough money for his basic needs and buy fertilizer?

my problem is that why can't Ghana government partner YARA so that fertilizers can be subsidise for average Ghanian farmer to buy. am told today agric sector performs very poorly....
