The only solution to stop Akosombo Textites from facing emminent collapse is protectism.Government should allow only 10% importation of textiles into the country to protect our industries and 500% taxes on imported Textiles.

Yeah, the chinese are at it again since our men and women in authority will take bribe and allow any crap into the country, but trust me ATL, you have the power. Put your house inorder, make changes and reforms where necessary and embark on a serious campagin against this inferior imports into our markets. Make sure you are not using this chinese cheap imports to cover up the mis-management in the company. Invoke national patrotism by campaigning on the needs for Ghanaians to buy their homemade cloths instead of foreign ones, and they will heed and turn around. ATL can claim the market back. Ghanaians are patrotic and they will help but ATL has to set things in motion.

WHY NOT DIVERSIFYING THEIR PRODUCTION by producing GOOD QUALITY COTTON MATERIALS like PIMA,MODAL,MERCERISED,COMBED for SHIRTS,T-SHIRTS,TANK TOPS,PANTIES,KAKHI PANTS,DRESSED SHIRTS etc, instead of our TRADITIONAL CLOTH/SMOCK MAKING MATERIALS(FABRICS).We have to be able to compete in KNIT & WOVEN APPAREL like T-SHIRTS,SWEATER,WINTER COATS etc. That can enhance employment opportunities and exports as well. Now that we have OIL,we have the chance of processing the PLASTICS(A BY-PRODUCT OF CLUDE OIL) out of the OIL to make:RAYON,POLYESTER,MICRO FIBRE,ACETATE ETC to blend with our cotton,so diversity in FABRIC PRODUCTION could be achieved in Ghana.
Cotton is needed everywhere in the world, therefore,if the GHANA manufacturers are really serious, they could enhance the quality of their products to compete in the international market. The WESTERN BLOCK is developping the COTTON FABRIC AND EVEN COMING UP WITH DIFFERENT SPECIES which were not there as hitherto BEEN the case.Ghana should wake up then to this type of challenge,as we have one of the cheapest labour in the world. to utilize and realize divident.IT IS NOT TOOMLATE,ATL.WAKE UP FROM YOUR SLUMBER AND TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE.

The whole country is collapsing not just Akosombo textiles. When the country collapses, it does so with everything therein.

Hear ATL When the going was good some few years back they kicked out all the small distrubutors and kept only a hand full of the Big Ones. Most of the small ones were not able to survive. Let them sing their own music.
