Accra International Airport (AIA) received the Best Airport at Departures – Africa award in the 2-5 million passengers category.

The airport also received the Customer Experience Accredited Airport – Level 1 recognition.

Managing Director of GACL, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, described the awards as an honour and said they reflected the collective efforts of staff and stakeholders within the airport ecosystem.

“It is an honour and a privilege for Ghana to receive this global recognition. These awards could not have been won working independently. It is a result of teamwork and collaboration across multiple stakeholders in the airport ecosystem,” she said.

Opare congratulated staff of Accra International Airport and urged them to continue improving service delivery.

“These awards are not the end of the journey but a reminder that we must continue to raise the bar,” she added.

The summit, held under the theme “Airport Experience: The New Era,” focused on the evolution of human-centred travel, including hospitality, organisational culture and customer service.

More than 100 airports were recognised during the summit’s Gala and Awards Ceremony for their performance in customer experience.

The ACI World Airport Customer Experience Accreditation Programme assesses airports’ capacity to manage and improve customer experience through stakeholder and employee engagement, training and staff development.

The ACI Airport Service Quality Programme is also recognised as a leading global benchmark for measuring airport passenger satisfaction.

GACL said the latest recognitions reaffirm its commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement in the passenger experience at Accra International Airport.
