It is annoying to hear this same foolish CSIR gaslighting us.
We have to be careful how we value some professions in Ghana.

My Friend , please “ Yellow Yam “ is “NKANI “ and Not Mankani as stated in your statement. “Mankani “ is actually COCOYAM. CSIR is too LAZY to find out why most of the indigenous crops are DISAPPEARING. The main reasons why some of these crops or plants are disappearing is the USE of “ WEED KILLERS “ to CLEAR the Farms. Some of these crops like COCOYAM etc..don’t need fertilisers so by using STRONG chemicals like Weedkillers we destroy the rich soil for years . Some of these crops including “ Mushrooms “ are Destroyed for years to their roots. Stop the importation of WEED KILLING CHEMICALS To our farmers who are ignorant about the dangers of these dangerous chemicals destroying our farms. Most of these Chemicals are even “BANNED “ in their countries of origin. WAKE UP!!!!!!!

TOO LATE TO BE SURPRISED! When your government is importing weed killers for farmers, you never thought it could destroy the crops directly, right? You dummies. I can't understand why African governments are so dumb.

You store your indigenous crop varieties in a vault in a white people's land in Norway? What sort of foolishness is this? Why can't you construct same vault in Ghana?

Agic Ministry, Agric Institutions, CSIR( CRI), FDA who have contributed to the situation. The use of weedicides have largely been responsible for the ' extinction' of most of our indigenous crops. Yet none of these organisations has taken the trouble to provide our farmers with information about which weedicides are better for our environment, food protection and sustainability.

People are talking about weedicide. The worst is the indoctrination of the mind of Ghanaians. I lived in Bunso in the sixties. I even visited about six years ago and couldn't believe the deterioration of the place. There were about seventeen bungalows with asphalt streets lined with lights and trees. We had green manicured lawns where we could play soccer. When we visited recently, the streets have turned into bush paths and the lawns have been overtaken by plantain farms.
The indoctrination of the present generation is serious as they are not even speaking the local languages and are being bombarded with advertising of processed foods like pasta, perfumed rice and spaghetti. The parents are to be blamed because the children eat what the parents eat.
