But then, GIS must also give us raw data about immigrants in our country. For all I know, there is no war, earthquake , biblical scale floods ,hurricane, tsunami or any natural disasters happening in Nigeria. It is a legitimate question for us to ask GIS and the Minister of Interior how many Nigerians are living in Ghana in 2026. There is nothing Xenophobic about it.

And you know that there are several borders most of the very every porous. The GIS can only hit its head, gaze into the air and guess some number for you.
In some countries on the continental Europe, there's this 8-day regulation: any person wishing to stay more than 8 days MUST be registered at the town/city hall closest to them. Normally, the host accompanies the guest/visitor to the office and is then registered as living on the SAME ADDRESS as the host. This sounds complicated, but is very easy and takes a few minutes (max of 20 minutes). In such countries, they can give data to more than 95% accuracy.

@Name, thank you! I understand all that, but our own spineless journalists do not ask the right questions. I questioned "Serwaa Amihere" as to why none of them have filed right to information request to the Minister of Interior to know how many immigrants were given residents or work permits by hiis Ministry in 2025, I never got a response from her. And, it is not a joke because per UN reports, Nigeria, will have a population of 450 million by 2050.
Which West African country will like to have 10 or 20 million Nigerians living in their midst?
Yet, Mahama and Ablakwa have this fanciful idealistic crap of regional integration. Absolute Nonsense. Why do we Ghanaian have to compete with Nigerians in selling onions or tomatoes in our local market?Nkwaseasem saa!

In central Europe, landlords, banks, insurances will ONLY take the details from a valid identity document. So without valid ID Card or passport (with valid residence permit), there's NO WAY any bank will open an account for you or any landlord will give their accommodation to you.
They'll always take the document and make photocopies of them. They won't even accept photocopy from the prospective tenant/client/customer.
Excellent point!
