The Ghana government must make it a requirement for individuals- professionals-registered businesses, and others to provide evidence of filed tax returns every year when they are seeking government assistance/grants/loans or renewing yearly association dues, or company licenses and any other way to show the person or entity has paid taxes for the year. Just showing you have paid your taxes is great but not GOOD enough. People must be coerced through legislation and legitimate means to pay taxes. Nobody necessarily wants to pay taxes. Coercion, enforcement, and consequences always works in developed countries and that is why they are able to fund and provide great public services and manage other government debts. I guess you know what is being said here already, so just do it then.

Nice one. Make it public for people to see the details on the tax form. Ghana government officials, ministers, parliamentarians, Public Servants taxes must be public record whereby citizens can request to inspect it. Same must be with assets declared. When the ordinary person cannot see clearly what is on your taxes or assets details, it defeats the policy of transparency and accountability. Create a government website where people can see assets declared. So how much did the ministers earn and how much taxes did they pay and at what percentage? Just curious! Come on, let’s go.

These Ministers must stop the concert. Farmers have been thrown into abject poverty and you guys are sitting in Accra and showing certificates. Where from such insensitivity?

I hope this will be the case in Ghana too. We don't have to appeal to citizens to submit their tax returns because it is an obligation!!
